My home is Braunschweig. Born in 1972, I spent my childhood and youth there and put my first drawings on paper. Later I studied art and German language and literature in Hamburg and Bremen with stays abroad in New York, Paris and Nîmes.
I have been working as a teacher in Flensburg since 2002. But when the chalk is at rest, I turn to art. Many of my pictures have been exhibited in many places. Writing and illustrating picture books is particularly close to my heart. I am delighted that my books have now been published not only in German, but also in Flemish, Chinese and Portuguese.
There's also a lot going on here at home in Flensburg: from September 2023 to February 2024, I had the special privilege of exhibiting at the Flensburg Museumsberg, one of Emil Nolde's old haunts. Under the title Frog finds crown – a children's book is born, children and their parents were offered an insight into my latest picture book and its development.
Together with my partner and our dog Bill, I enjoy cycling tours in the beautiful surroundings of Flensburg.
